A rare trip into the loft by Caersws quoiter Brendon Lloyd has unearthed the long-forgotten Major G R D Harrison Shield which was presented by the Harrison family to Montgomery County Recreation Association for the County Quoiting League, and first played for in 1921.

Between 1921 and 1991, it was played for on 41 occasions, and won by Caersws Quoits Club three times; in 1972, 1988 and again the final time it was played for in 1991.

The first winners of the shield were Aberhafesp; the only time they were to win it.

Other winning clubs were Tregynon nine times,  Llandyssil 17 times, Bettws three times, Aberbechan three times, Abermule twice and Bwlchyffridd three times.

In the interest of keeping the shield safe whilst sharing it with interested public, it is now proposed to offer it on long-term loan to a local museum.
